Potomac Boy Scout Achieves Eagle Scout Rank

Matthew Brothers, from Troop 773 in Potomac was recently awarded his Eagle Scout Rank at a ceremony at the Potomac United Methodist Church. Less than 2 percent of all Scouts achieve this rank. Matt has been an active Scout since elementary school and is now a senior at Churchill High School, headed to Penn State University next year.

His Eagle project was the construction of a number of storage shelving units for the Potomac United Methodist Church and over painting the parking lot curbs. Persevering through two major changes to his project, Matthew completed this one with well over 150 man hours of effort between him and his volunteers.

Matt has been active in Troop 773’s high adventure program, earning the Triple Crown in 2010, which represents attendance at all three National High Adventure bases in the Scouting system , including Northern Tier, Sea Base and Philmont (or HH Camp).  Less than 0.5 percent of all Scouts achieve the Triple Crown.
