Churchill Highlights: Boys Varsity Soccer vs. B-CC

Sophomore Christina Poerstal, Freshman Rebecca Bartko, Senior Camille Chetrit, Junior Melissa Maffeo, Sophomore Eunbbie Kim, and Sophomore Hanna Jia. Kim and Jia, along with five boys, will represent WCHS at the Montgomery County Invitational on Oct. 12. Meanwhile, Jia and Kim—among the top seven finishers at Districts—along with Senior Kathleen Gaultney, are set to represent WCHS at the States later this month.
WCHS Bulldog Golfers were among a record eight Montgomery County school teams to qualify for State Championships. In addition to securing the place for state play in the Districts Golf Championship, WCHS placed three golfers in the top 10 individually, including Freshmen Michael Brinkman and Luke Schaap, along with Senior Zach Satin. At the Boys and Girls District matches last week, Churchill's Golf teams sported pink socks in support of Pink Homecoming Month, a national program designed to raise awareness and funds for all types of cancer. Many of Churchill's fall teams can be seen wearing pink this month, holding raffles and collecting donations for Pink Homecoming. The initiative is a cooperative effort of the CHS Athletic Department, Booster Club and Student Government Association.
A worker sands the hardwood floor in Churchill's main gym last week. The refinishing project, paid for in part by the WCHS Booster Club, is scheduled to be completed by the end of October or early November.
