Churchill Highlights: CHS Boys Soccer Hosts Annual Alumni Turkey Bowl
On Thanksgiving day, Churchill soccer alumni play returned to WCHS to play the current varsity soccer team in the annual “Turkey Bowl.” This 2012 game was the first in its 36-year history to have a father-son alumni duo on the team. Every year on Thanksgiving day, Churchill boys soccer alumni play the current varsity soccer team in an annual “Turkey Bowl.” Shown here are the current and former players who turned out for this year's event on Nov. 22.
Parents of CHS student-athletes participating in winter sports gathered in the gymnasium on Monday, Nov. 26 for an overview on Churchill and MCPS policies regarding sports teams and athletes. Athletic Director David Kelley speaks to parents on the newly refurbished gymnasium floor, the repairs for which were paid in large part from funds provided by the Churchill Booster Club.
Bulldog Senior Crispin Muessle (right), shown with Varsity Coach Arnold Tarzy, was selected to play in the Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer All-State Game, which happened on Monday, Nov. 19 at Walter Johnson High School. Fifty-six players from 42 Maryland public and private high schools played in this annual event. Muessle scored one goal and one assist, contributing to his team’s 7-2 victory. In addition, Muessle was recently named 1st Team All-County.
The WCHS Girls Lacrosse Team, led by new varsity coach Jamie Frank, sponsored "Lovin' Lacrosse" clinic for girls grades 2 through 8 on Nov. 10 at Churchill. Forty-three girls participated in the clinic.
