Churchill Nominated For 7 Cappies

The winners will be announced at the Cappies Gala at the Kennedy Center on June 10.

Winston Churchill High School may soon have a few Cappies to boast.

Think of them as the Tonys for high school students. The Cappies program trains high school theater and journalism students to work as critics, attending shows at other schools, writing reviews and publishing those reviews in local newspapers. At the end of the year, the student critics vote for awards that are presented at a formal Cappies Gala. This year WCHS has seven nominations for its spring production of Legally Blonde.

The nominations are as follows:

  • The Legally Blonde Musical Orchestra has been nominated for Best Orchestra
  • The Delta Nus/Greek Chorus has been nominated for Best Ensemble in a Musical
  • Kevin Shin has been nominated for Best Male Dancer
  • Chani Wereley has been nominated for Best Female Vocalist
  • Erik Rigaux has been nominated for best Male Vocalist
  • Genevieve Austin has been nominated for Best Lead Actress in a Musical
  • “There! Right There!” has been nominated for Best Song

The winners will be announced at the Cappies Gala at the Kennedy Center on June 10.
