Churchill Students Awarded National Merit Scholarships

Three students from Winston Churchill High School each awarded $2,500.

 

 

Three students from Winston Churchill High School have been named National Merit scholars, according to a Gazette report.

Students Derek L. Gritz, Charlotte W. Bourg and Raymond Y. Li were selected from students nationwide to each receive one of 8,300 awards.

Since its founding in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship has been awarded to nearly 3 million students, providing more than $1.4 billion in funds, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation website. Students are chosen for National Merit recognition based on PSAT scores, and winners are selected through multiple rounds of the competition. After making it through the selection, commendation, semifinalist and finalist scoring, winners receive a $2,500 scholarship for college study.
