County Extends Online Survey Deadline on Pepco to Feb. 7

Residents and businesses can offer feedback on Pepco’s service and impacts of outages.

 

Montgomery County has extended the deadline for online Pepco feedback surveys.

A group of community leaders appointed by County Executive Isiah Leggett called the Pepco Work Group is conducting the surveys.

Two different surveys are offered, one for businesses, another for residential customers.

A press release about the extended deadline, which was supposed to be today, read “The survey is designed to obtain information on how the public views Pepco’s service, the extent to which customers have experienced outages, the economic impact of those outages and some insight as to what additional costs customers would be willing to incur in exchange for improved service.”

The group is investigating the reliability of Pepco’s service in the county and formulating steps to improve its service.

Leggett plans on sharing the recommendations with Pepco and the Maryland Public Service Commission.

I really don't know where to start in regards to PEPCO. They are like your worst nightmare. If you are struggling to pay your bills, they tack on a huge deposit which they insist you pay and at the drop of a hat, they send you a disconnect notice. Not to mention knocking at your door with an orange card to threaten you in the middle of winter that they are going to disconnect your electricity. They know that come spring they can cut you off at will and then you have to pay. If the consumer needs electricity at that time, then they will have to pay up before it gets to that point.

So why all the gimmick and stress? Plus you know you will loose power if there is a wind gust, not to mention rainfall, icy rain and snow, you can look forward to the electricity going out.

PEPCO, for me it means exhorbitant bills, substantial deposit fees and power outages.

The Washington Post the other day shared in a story on a little known loophole in state law allowing utilities to recoup losses in outages for unused wattage from customers.

Good old utility companies, only willing to provide the service we already pay for if we pay more for the service we have already payed for! Meanwhile the executives at Pepco are most likely making obscene paychecks.
