Four Local Girl Scouts Earn Top Award

Four local girls from Potomac-based Girl Scout Troop 3288 have been recognized by the national organization for their leadership, community service and advocacy.

Four local Ambassador Girl Scouts from Troop 3288 have earned the prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award, symbolizing outstanding accomplishments in leadership, community service and advocacy. 

Katie Mark, a senior at , Kelly Seegers, a senior at , Emma Glass, a senior at and Chloe Hand, a senior at WCHS, were recently honored with the award.

The Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can earn, and is awarded to only about five percent of eligible Girl Scouts nationwide. 

It requires successfully completing several prerequisites, then submitting a proposal which includes ties to community outreach and sustainability. Each girl commits hard work and a minimum of 80 hours to complete her project.

All four honorees are members of Troop 3288, based in Potomac, MD. In addition to their extensive community service contributions to their communities, the girls have traveled internationally with their troop to two Girl Scout/Girl Guide world centers, in Switzerland and England, and visited the Girl Scout Birthplace in Savannah, Georgia.
