Gallery of Bethesda to Begin Leasing In December

Seventeen-story apartment building is under construction at 4800 Auburn Ave.

The Gallery of Bethesda, a 17-story retail and residential tower under construction at 4800 Auburn Ave., will begin offering apartments for lease in December.

The lower floors of the high-rise will be complete when leasing begins, said Jad Donohoe, development director with developer The Donohoe Cos., at a Friday meeting of the Woodmont Triangle Action Group.

The development will feature 234 apartments and more than 4,600 square feet of ground-floor retail facing Del Ray and Auburn Avenues.

The Gallery of Bethesda will boast amenities including a rooftop pool, sundeck and clubroom, a fitness room and coffee bar.

When complete, it will mark the first phase of a 580,000-square-foot development plan known as Woodmont Central. Plans call for an additional 16-story residential and retail building for nearby 4850 Rugby Avenue, separated from the Gallery of Bethesda by a quarter-acre plaza.

The second building will feature 221 apartments and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, and the third phase of the project will bring a six-story office building to 8280 Wisconsin Avenue.

Somehow they know when leasing will begin but they can't bother to include the actual cost of leasing said new apartments?

My guess is astronomically ridiculous like The Upstairs at Bethesda or Palisades level of rent. It'll probably sit 3/4ths empty rather than have reasonable rent rates.

The new monopolies and king pens of today are the rental corporations that charge obscene rent for retail and residential.
