Girl Scouts Trim Trees for Charity

Trees will be raffled off at the Montgomery Mall.

Potomac and Bethesda girl scouts gathered at the Westfield Montgomery Mall recently to benefit charity and to make the holiday brighter for a family in need.

Scouts representing troops from Seven Locks Elementary School, Carderock Springs Elementary School, Herbert Hoover Middle School, Thomas W. Pyle Middle School, Winston Churchill High School, Our Lady of Mercy School, Potomac Elementary School, Norwood School, McLean School and Connelly School of the Holy Child stopped by the mall last Friday to decorate trees donated by Benkhe Nurseries with ornaments they hand-crafted at scout meetings.

Shoppers can stop by the mall until Friday to purchase raffle tickets to win the trees, and the proceeds will benefit the Girl Scouts and the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington. Additionally, one of the trees will be donated to a local family in need through the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services.
