Earn money for your Potomac schools while grocery shopping.
Area stores including Giant Food, Safeway and Harris Teeter have pledged to donate cash to schools for purchases made this school year.
Giant Food will award points to registered schools for purchases made between Oct. 5 and March 28, 2013, through it's A+ School Rewards program. At the end of that time, the total points earned by a school will be used to calculate a percentage of a $2 million award.
Last year, Hoover Middle School was awarded $14,000 from Giant through the grocer's program.
To sign up for the program visit the chain's website here. Users must reregister each year to continue earning awards for their schools.
Safeway will donate up to $25,000 to schools registered through its eScrips program. For a list of participating schools near you, search for your ZIP code here. Users must reregister to continue earning awards.
