Local Real Estate Office Donates $2,500 to Domestic Violence Shelter

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage donated money to Family Services, Inc. that will go to the Betty Ann Krahnke Center.

A Potomac real estate office is helping support a Montgomery County domestic violence shelter after donating $2,500 to Family Services, Inc. on Monday.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, 10220 River Rd., presented the check to representatives from Family Services on Dec. 13 on behalf of the company's philanthropy, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Cares. The money will go to the Betty Ann Krahnke Center — the only domestic violence shelter serving Montgomery County.

"This was the first time we donated to Family Services, and we are certainly happy to help," said Joan Reilly, the manager of the Potomac branch.

Reilly said the real estate office decided to donate the CBRC Cares money to Family Services because one of their sales associates, Marc Infeld — who is also a Family Services board member, suggested it as a good cause.

Family Services oversee the Betty Ann Krahnke Center, which was founded in 2000. The center provides safety for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The 54-bed facility offers therapy and support for victims and teaches them to stand up for their own safety in the community.
