Potomac Day 2011 Will Be on Oct. 22

The annual celebration held by the Potomac Chamber of Commerce will be on Oct. 22.

It’s one exciting day a year when the streets in the heart of Potomac are transformed into a parade route, local businesses are on display and the parking lots look more like amusement parks. Potomac Day is approaching, and this year it will be held on Oct. 22, 2011.

The 30th annual celebration will be hosted by the Potomac Chamber of Commerce and will follow tradition with a parade, car show, business fair, a band and games to boot.

Although planning for this year’s celebration is just beginning, the Chamber is looking forward to another big event with a great turnout, said Jennifer Matheson,  the Director of Operations at Potomac Chamber of Commerce.

It may seem far away, but here’s what you need to know to prepare for Potomac Day 2011:

  • If you’re interested in sponsoring the event, you can be an elite sponsor for $2,000, a platinum sponsor for $1,500 or a gold sponsor for $700. Logos for sponsors are needed no later than Sept. 15.
  • The Potomac Day Parade will be at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22. To be part of the parade, complete the form and submit it to the Chamber by Oct. 5.
  • Get ready to rev those engines, because the Potomac Day Classic Car Show will be at the event for its fifth year. The car show will be going on from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with an awards ceremony at 2:45 p.m. It costs $20 per car registration fee and proceeds will benefit a charity not yet announced. Be sure to complete the registration form and send it in by Oct. 6.
  • Your business can get some great attention at the business fair, which will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Potomac Day. Reserving a booth will cost $175 for Potomac Chamber of Commerce members and non-profits and will cost $225 for non-members. The registration form must be received by Oct. 5.
  • Do you know a great marching band that could add some tunes to the Potomac Day Parade? Nominate a band to play and that band could earn cash for new uniforms.
