This article describes no newsworthy connection. If you think it does, you had been starting reporting everything going on in the lives of all of Kelly's relatives.

This is a deceiving headline, she owes her attorney not Montgomery County and secondly this is not anyones business. You have know idea why she owes, could be for many reasons both good and bad. try and have integrity when posting a story.

Well, I apologize. It turns out she is in this mess at least knee-deep. Petraeus and Allen actually wrote letters of support for her in the custody battle she has had with her ex. Had your article mentioned that, I would have had nothing to say.

What a soap opera. And now it turns out that the FBI agent who started the investigation was suspended for sending shirtless photos of himself to Jill Kelley.

The hedline is still wrong. She doesn't owe the county anything. A demand for payment was made in the county court system.

However, apparently you could say she actually does owe SOME government a lot of money--the IRS, to be exact.

Bastante - What prompted my comments were the cutting/chiding remarks you and another commentator had toward the editor of the Patch. YOU should stop being so critical and take this convenient form of information for what it's worth. That is to keep us informed of our local news. It's up to us then to research something if it gets our attention. I was critical of those who were critical FIRST and I believe it was Bastante saying, quite rudely, 'shame on you'.

The Patch took a tiny shred of a local connection - the woman once set foot in Montgomery County! she owes money to someone here! - and decided that this ludicrous scrap made it of sufficient local interest that they should run the story. And without bothering to inform us why it was newsworthy at all. It turned out an hour later that the woman actually had a role in the Petraeus story. It wasn't just that she was related to Jill Kelley and had some tenuous connection to Montgomery County. Too bad the writer and the editor didn't write a solid story, then.

Now that it turns out she owes money to someone in Montgomery County, it STILL isn't a worthwhile local news story. It's a pathetic twist on "brushed by fame." Brushed by infamy. Barely.
