State BOE Sides With MCPS Over Brickyard

The Maryland Board of Education agrees with MCPS decision to lease an organic farm in Potomac.

 

The Maryland State Board of Education on Tuesday sided with Montgomery County Public Schools over the to Montgomery County.

The state board's decision has been pending since August 2011, when Nick Maravell, owner of Nick's Organic Farm, and dozens of other claimants were approved by the state board to appeal the lease of the Brickyard site to Montgomery County. The county intends to develop the land into soccer fields with Montgomery Soccer, Inc.

Tuesday the state board decided that Montgomery County BOE acted appropriately in transferring ownership of the lease in March 2011 to Montgomery County.
