This weekend in Potomac will be heavy on sports, whether it is a traditional football game or the Senior Players Championship golf tournament.
On Friday, Winston Churchill High School is hosting their Homecoming football game -- a match up that will be sure to bring in many local fans. The Churchill Bulldogs are competing against Magruder in their Homecoming game, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. At halftime, this year's Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned.
Friday also marks the second day of competition at the Senior Players Championship at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm. The tournament, which is a major championship on the PGA TOUR's Champion Tour for professional golfers ages 50 and older, continues through Sunday.
Saturday is Military Appreciation Day and rock band, Better Than Ezra is helping celebrate the occasion by performing a free concert at the Senior Players Championship. The concert will take place at 3:30 p.m. on a stage by the 18th hole of the golf course.
If you're looking for a good book, don't miss the Potomac Library's monthly book sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will have sell most hardback books for $1 and most paperback books for 50 cents.
Many local students will spend Saturday evening dancing at Churchill's annual Homecoming Dance. The Homecoming Dance will take place at the school and will incorporate some of the suggestions students provided about how to improve the dance.
On Sunday, all eyes will be on the final day of play at the Senior Players Championship. Why not see what all of the hype is about and stop by the beautiful TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm to watch the last day of the tournament. The winner will get $405,000 at the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. on the 18th hole of the course.
