Your Local News Fix Now at Starbucks

Potomac residents can catch up on Potomac news easier at local Starbucks Coffee locations.

Potomac residents can now drink their coffee at Starbucks and catch up on the local news because of a new partnership with Patch and the well-known coffee chain.

Starting Wednesday, a link to Patch.com will appear on the Starbucks Digital Network -- the page that appears when customers log onto the free wi-fi network at Starbucks stores.

Internet-users will see a bar of colored tabs with Starbucks' recommendations for news, entertainment, wellness, business and careers, my neighborhood and updates about the coffee chain. The link to Patch is under the "my neighborhood" tab along with nonprofit, DonorsChoose.org; social networking site, Foursqare; and ratings and review site, Zagat.

Potomac Patch will be accessible at these Starbucks locations:

As editor of Potomac Patch, I spend a lot of my time at these Starbucks locations, so if you see me there be sure to let me know what you think of the site and tell me what you would like to see in your local news.

It appears that Starbucks is now limiting "free" refills to those items bought less than 1 hour prior and only in that particular store. Is this a way to clear some table space or stop the hemorraging bottom line of free coffee?
