presents an afternoon of choral music, games, and fun activities for the whole family

SPRING FEST

 

            The Glorystar Children’s Chorus presents its SPRING FEST on Saturday, April 5 from 12:00PM to 3:30PM at the Seven Locks Baptist Church, 11845 Seven Locks Road, Potomac, MD. Come and enjoy an afternoon of choral music, games, and fun activities for the whole family. FREE & Open to the Public. Limited Space. Please R.S.V.P. at  240-277-7629 | info@glorystar.org . Several activities will take place for the different age groups:

 

Sing With Me (12:00 - 1:00 PM)  an interactive musical experience, specially designed to introduce children ages 5-7 to choral singing. Ming Hsieh, an experienced early childhood music teacher, will work with all the children--sitting with our Beginner chorus--on a few songs with fun & rhythmic body movements.

Choral Concert (1:15 - 2:30 PM) joint concert by Glorystar Children's Chorus and the with the Elm City Girls Choir of the United Choir School from New Heaven, CT.  A wonderful program and unique opportunity, sure to please everyone in the family.

Games & Food (12:30 PM & 2:30 PM) Fun activities for the young and young at heart: Face Painting, Instrument Petting Zoo, and Bake Sale

Silent Auction (12:30-2:30 PM) Adults will have the opportunity to bid on a great variety of interesting articles to support Glorystar Children's Chorus mission

 

            After this activity/performance, the Glorystar Children's Chorus presents two more concerts this season:  Outreach Concert for Seniors on May 3 at the National Lutheran Home, and our Spring Concert on June 1, 2014 at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theater. Glorystar will also participate at the Hai Hua Festival (Greater Washington Chinese Choruses) on May 3.

 

 

            Founded in 996 by artistic director Cherie Jeng, Glorystar Children's Chorus provides excellent music education to children and youth in the joy of choral art. Through a rich repertoire of Eastern and Western music, GCC promotes music appreciation and builds bridges in our diverse community.   More than 130 choristers, ages 5 to 18, sing in four choirs: Beginning, Training, Concert, and Chamber. Glorystar has performed at many venues in the metropolitan area such as the Washington National Cathedral, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the White House, Montgomery College and the Performing Arts Center at Strathmore. The chorus has toured all over the US and internationally. Last year Glorystar Children's Chorus participated at the 2013 Pacific International Children's Choir Festival .

 

 

            Glorystar Education and Cultural Foundation, Inc (DBA Glorystar Children’s Chorus) is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.  All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Glorystar Children's Chorus is supported in part by funding from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County; and the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. An agency of the Department of Business & Economic Development, the MSAC provides financial support and technical assistance to non profit organizations, units of government, colleges and universities for arts activities. Funding for the Maryland State Arts Council is also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
