5 Things to Know This Week: Fireworks Rescheduled, Storm Cleanup, Weather

Good morning, Potomac! It’s Monday morning, and time to get your work week started with these “5 Things.” Among our offerings: weather, a recap of the storm damage and what you can expect coming up this week.

1. We can expect a break from the heat this week, as temperatures drop back into the 80s. Highs will reach the upper 80s, with lows dropping into the 60s. Today will cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service. Today’s high will be 83, with tonight’s lows dropping to 69.

2. Storm damage cleanup continues from last week’s derecho storm, while Pepco’s has reported it's at 100 percent restoration. Do you have pictures of storm damage in Potomac? and tell us your story of derecho survival.

3. The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will provide special storm tree debris collections— on county-maintained roads only— throughout the county starting Wednesday.

4. Gaithersburg will celebrate a bigger, belated version of the Fourth of July on Dubbed “a midsummer celebration featuring live music, food, and spectacular fireworks,” gates at the Montgomery County fairgrounds open at 5 p.m. Friday, July 13, according to a a city press release.

5.
