5 Things to Know Today: Dec. 5

Check out our calendar for more of the week's events.

Good morning, Potomac! It’s Monday morning, a new week and time to get started with today’s “5 Things.” Among our offerings: weather, some interesting tidbits and a few quick notes.

1. Like it has for the past two weeks, it looks like we’re going to start out our week with rain. Today we will see fog in the morning, with clouds the rest of the day and a high of 61, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will also be cloudy, with a chance of rain and a low of 52. We can expect rain and clouds for the beginning of the week, though the forecast expects sun and clear skies after Thursday.

2. Keep an eye on Patch this week for the latest information on the proposed Montgomery County youth curfew. Last week the Montgomery County Council Public Safety Committee recommended against supporting the bill.

3. December is here and it’s a time that many start decorating for the holidays. If you’re in the market for a fresh-cut Christmas tree, Patch has the low-down.

4. Patch’s Moms Council weighed in on holiday giving during Saturday’s Moms Talk. Jennifer Nordin explained that her child is young and has only just begun to understand the holiday, but that she has future plans to involve her children in choosing toys to give away to others.
