Good morning, Potomac! It’s Thursday morning, mid-week, and time to get your day going with today’s “5 Things.” Among our offerings: weather, some interesting tidbits and a few quick notes.

1. We may see some rain and patchy fog early in the day. The rest of the day will be cloudy with a high of 57, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low of 35.

2. A local economist advised the Montgomery County Council that a focus on transportation might not be the answer to economic growth. over the next 10 years, but only if changes are made to sustain that growth.

3. This morning we will unveil a new feature on the Potomac and North Potomac Patch sites called “Meet a Community Member.” Come back at 10 a.m. for our talk with the Montgomery County Police Department's 1st District Community Services officer Michael Prather. Prather discusses his personal decision to become a police officer and some of the issues facing the area.
