5 Things to Know Today: Sept. 2

Today you unwind, maybe even watch some Winston Churchill football.

You’ve made it Potomac. It’s Friday. It’s the weekend. On top of that, it’s Labor Day Weekend and you likely don’t have to go back to work until Tuesday. That might as well be one of your “5 Things” to start the day, because, really, it’s the most important.

So here we go:

1. It’s Labor Day Weekend, so put down that work phone and pick up a picnic basket. We’ll have a Labor Day Weekend run-down later this afternoon, just in case you didn’t know the holiday comes with parades.

2. The day might start off with a little rain, according to the National Weather Service, but all that should clear up by the afternoon. By 12 p.m. we should see a partly sunny day with highs near 83 and a low of 66.

3. Preregistration has begun for a Red Cross Blood Drive hosted by . The Drive will take place Oct. 1 and those interested in donating should contact Richard Sinatra via e-mail sinatrar@verizon.net.

4. It’s time for high school football again! Tonight, Winston Churchill faces Kennedy at 6:30. The game will take place at , 11300 Gainsborough Rd., Potomac. For a complete listing of area high school football games, check out the Montgomery County Schools website here.

5. Do you have something to say, but need somewhere to say it? Are you an expert in local politics, in home and gardening, in the kitchen or on a boat? Patch knows you have a voice and we want to help you express it.
