4. Help the Homeless Walkathon in Friendship Heights

Where/When: Meet at the Friendship Heights Village Center (4433 S. Park Ave., Chevy Chase) on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 9:00 a.m.

Why Go: Join the first-ever mini-walk in the Village of Friendship Heights to support the Community Council for the Homeless at Friendship Place. A continental breakfast will be donated by Courtyard Marriott, and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. Walkers will proceed down Wisconsin Avenue to the Friendship Place Welcome Center near Chesapeake Street. Round-trip, the walk will be about 2 miles long. To register online, visit the Help the Homeless Walkathon website. Fill in “Village of Friendship Heights” under "Name of Hosting Organization."

Pricing: $30 for adults 25 years old and up; $20 for walkers under age 25.

5. "TOUGH!" at The Writer's Center

Where/When: The Writer's Center (4508 Walsh St., Chevy Chase), Thursday and Friday, Oct. 27 and 28, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m.

Why Go: A raw comedy by George F. Walker — one of Canada’s foremost playwrights — "TOUGH!" is an honest and intimate look at the very adult consequences of very young love. Viciously smart, extremely funny, and pulling no punches — especially to the face — "TOUGH!" takes Flying V’s mission of fearless content to a new personal level.
