Nick's Organic Farm Supporters Rally Despite Rain

Supporters of Nick's Organic Farm gathered Wednesday to petition the county to reconsider its decision to develop the Brickyard property into soccer fields.

Petitions containing more than were delivered to Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett's office Wednesday morning.

“There is such , because it offers a well-established, unique model for farming on the urban fringe,” said Sara Shor, campaign organizer for Nick’s Organic Farm, in a press release. “We hope that County Executive Leggett will listen to his constituents and stand up for local, sustainable food and agriculture, which benefits our health, the environment, and the local economy.”

According to the release, the petition signatures came from three sources: a petition on www.change.org; a petition at www.care2.com; and a Save Nick’s Organic Farm petition circulated at local events.
