Occasions Gift Store Debuts at Cabin John Mall

Potomac native Stephanie Menick is living her dream!  Her new gift store, Occasions opened just two weeks ago in Cabin John Mall.  The store offers an eclectic collection of one-of-a-kind gifts and custom gift baskets for every occasion.  

Menick worked at Party Etc., a gift store located in the same mall as a teenager attending Churchill High School.  She loved the gift business and had always aspired to own her own shop. Ten years ago, she established a corporate gift basket company from her home in Gaithersburg.  After a few years, she leased space at Rio Shopping Center for the holiday months of November and December. The Rio owners were so impressed with Menick’s creativity and knowledge that they convinced her to open Occasions Gift Store in their other property at National Harbor three years ago. The Cabin John Mall location will be her second venture.

“I hope to not only provide unique gifts and custom gift baskets but also to operate a store which gives the customer a vibrant and inviting store atmosphere as well as exquisite finishing touches including gift baskets wrapped with handmade bows,” said Menick. 

The store features gift items for baby and bridal showers, birthdays, bar and bat mitzvahs, holidays and hostess thank you gifts.  Menick said, the store will provide a “go-to” Potomac location for distinctive presents for newborns to grandparents. 

Occasions wraps each purchase in an attractive gift bag with tissue and ribbon and they also feature a custom wrap for just a few dollars more.  Menick is also planning to hold “Friends and Family” shopping nights where they will have trunk shows, events and discounted prices.
