Report: Potomac's Billionaires

How many billionaires are in your town?

Potomac fared well in Forbes' 2013 list of billionaires—1,426 people (a record) from around the world with an average net worth of $3.8 billion. Nine of them were from Maryland, The Baltimore Sun reported.

The following Potomac residents were included on the list, The Sun pointed out:

  • Mitchell Rales: "With a net worth of $3.9 billion, Mitchell Rales, of Potomac, ranked No. 346 on the Forbes billionaires list. Rales made his fortune in manufacturing."
  • Richard Marriott: Marriott, "who has run Host Hotels since 1993, is listed at No. 736 on the Forbes billionaires list. Marriott, of Potomac, has a net worth valued at $2 billion."
  • J.W. Marriott Jr.: "J.W. 'Bill' Marriottt Jr. stepped down as Marriott CEO in 2012. He is listed at No. 868 on the Forbes billionaires list. He's from Potomac and has a net worth of $1.75 billion."
  • Daniel Snyder: "Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder is ranked No. 1342 on [the] Forbes list of international billionaires, with a net worth of $1 billion." He lives in Potomac, Potomac Patch has reported.
