Week in Review: Earthquake, Hurricane Dominated Coverage.

A look at the top news Aug. 21 through Aug. 27.

Natural phenomena reigned supreme on Patch this week, though we started off relatively quiet.

On Monday, Potomac Patch featured a . More than 50 firefighters gathered to climb the North Bethesda Market East Tower in memory of those firefighters who died at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Monday also featured a recap of the , which welcomed 100 supporters to the event.

Later, we returned to more regular coverage with several feature stories about sports prep. The Bulldogs are anxious for their seasons to start and have practiced hard to make the most of their games. Another story discussed F. Lennox Campello's new book that takes a look inside the art world in the capital region. Campello enlisted the help of museum directors, art collectors, artists and more to generate 100 names for a collection titled .

From Thursday through today we’ve been working extensively to cover Hurricane Irene. As we begin to asses damages and flooding, be sure to follow the .
