7th Annual Persian Spring Festival is Sunday in Boyds

Event is at Black Hill Regional Park; thousands expected to attend

The IrAmerican Civic Society, in cooperation with Montgomery Parks, will host the seventh annual Sizdeh Bedar—the Persian festival of spring—at Black Hill Regional Park on Sunday.

The event is from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Nationwide, Iranian Americans and others will celebrate this spring event in parks and various outdoor settings on Sunday, the 13th day of the Persian Year—or Norouz.

The celebration at Black Hill will include live Persian music, cultural activities, and freshly grilled food and sweets.

On Monday, park officials said that thousands are expected to attend the event. Montgomery Parks’ and the Maryland-National Capital Park Police are managing crowd control.

West Old Baltimore Road is currently closed on the east side for construction but is expected to reopen by April 7.

During the festival, West Old Baltimore Road will remain open for traffic but will not be available for parking or pedestrians.

Parking passes cost $25 and can be purchased from the IrAmerican Civic Association by calling 703-442-8100.  

Park Police have established a hotline number, 301-528-3469. Residents, park neighbors and patrons may call that number on the day of the event with any questions or concerns.
