Refresh Your Spaces this Fall

When refreshing your spaces, you don't necessarily need a complete room renovation to get a new look and feel.

Fall is here and what a great time of year! Our thoughts move from outside the home to ideas about the inside, keeping in mind the upcoming holidays, which will be here sooner than we think.

When refreshing your spaces, you don’t necessarily need a complete room renovation to get a new look and feel. If your room has an area rug that’s looking worn and tired, you can shop for a new one, changing the style of the carpet while making sure the colors work with your walls and upholstery pieces.

Once the new carpet is in place, take stock on the rest of the room. Is the furniture placement just right, or do some minor changes need to be made? Once the carpet and furniture are taken care of, it’s time to finish off the space. I always recommend rearranging the art work and wall decor in a room make-over. Placing your art work in different places or grouping pieces with other items can make a huge difference in the room’s look and feel and makes the art look fresh. Also, replacing old pillows with new ones helps to perk up sofas and chairs. Plus, a new plant or two or some fresh flowers in a vase can add color and fill in dead or tired spaces.

These ideas can be useful in a room’s facelift, which is based on coordination between current and new items. If the new carpet pulls together the walls and upholstery, and the new accessories help to tie together old and new items, you will have a very good looking, well-thought out space. Then go and enjoy planning your holiday menu!
