Bethesda's Pirjo Closes Doors

After 28 years in business the store will close by the end of the month, employees say.

A sign announcing the retirement of Pirjo Jaffe greets customers walking past the eponymously named high-end Bethesda Row boutique.

“After 28 years Pirjo is retiring. It has been a great run. I thank all old and new customers for your loyal patronage over the years,” the sign reads.

Pirjo carries numerous European brands, offering women's clothing including dresses, skirts, blouses, slacks, jackets, sunglasses, scarves, jewelry and handbags. The popular store has been featured in several best-of lists over the years, including the Washingtonian.
