Foodie News: Steakhouse Closure, Apizza Opens in April

Unsuccessful rental negotiations caused Divino Lounge—an Argentinian steakhouse in Bethesda—to close its doors for good, Bethesda Patch reported.

After 10 years, the popular restaurant has vacated its Wisconsin Avenue location, and a "for rent" sign hangs above the space. Divino's owners had this to say about the closure on the restaurant's website.

Three Sides:

Diners in downtown Silver Spring soon will have a new pizza parlor, Silver Spring Patch reported: New Haven Style Apizza is readying a location at Wayne and Georgia avenues that will bring a type of pizza famous in the Northeast to the neighborhood.

Joel Mehr, one of three owners of the business, said the company plans to open the restaurant in the latter part of April 2013. He told Patch that the owners, who already operate two Pete's locations in Washington, DC, and one in Clarendon, VA, have been eyeing Silver Spring for some time.

Popular restaurant Founding Farmers is set to release a restaurant cookbook this October, Potomac Patch reported.

Located in Park Potomac, MD, and Washington, DC, Founding Farmers offers a seasonal, locally-sourced menu of comfort food.

According to a Founding Farmers announcement on Patch:

The Founding Farmers Cookbook will provide the home cook with recipes for one hundred of its most popular and beloved dishes...

Celebrity chef Bryan Voltaggio's new restaurant Range in Chevy Chase, DC, isn't all about meat. It's got good pizza covered, too. Eater DC reported that the restaurant's pizza chef is Edan MacQuaid, "who most recently made pies at Local 16 [1602 U St. NW, Washington, DC] and has worked in just about every popular pizza joint in town." Read more on Eater DC.

Dessert:

Zagat's list of the five best Vietnamese restaurants in the DC area didn't overlook Montgomery County.

Zagat users had great things to say about Pho 75 (which has five locations, one of which——is in Montgomery County), Zagat reported:

“A big bowl of steaming-hot love”, with broth that “lives up to the hype” and “many options for extras”, stars on the menu at these local Vietnamese “standard-bearers”; despite decor that makes “elementary school cafeterias look like the Four Seasons”, service is “fast” and it’s “cheap, cheap, cheap”; P.S. cash only and most locations close at 8 PM nightly.
