Andres was named by the Daily Meal, which recently came out with its list of America's 50 Most Powerful People in Food.

The celebrity chef and Bethesda resident came in 18th on the third annual list, which highlights those who "affect what and how and where and why we eat."

Andres is also a successful restaurateur behind eateries including downtown Bethesda's Jaleo. He also launched popular food truck Pepe.

Also named on the list was First Lady Michelle Obama (No. 24), McDonald's head Donald Thompson (No. 7) and chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck (No. 36).

Unfortunately, I have to disagree. We have tried Jaleo 3 times, and unfortunately every time we went there was something missing in the dishes we tasted. Did we taste the wrong ones? We gave it three chances, in case, it was a bad night for the cook!
