Local Coffee Shops Closing For Sandy

Local coffee shops may be closing early today in preparation for Hurricane Sandy's torturous approach to Montgomery County.

Management at the Starbucks in Potomac Village says the store will close at 1 p.m. today.

In Bethesda, several Starbucks stores were waiting for a call from regional management to decide if they would close or remain open.

The Starbucks on Sangamore Road, located in the Shops at Sumner Place, is closing at 2 p.m. Monday. A sign posted on the store's door read:

Due to severe weather warnings, this store will be closed at 2 p.m. this afternoon. We do not know yet what time we are going to open tomorrow, but we are planning to open unless we lose power.

Calls to the Caribou Coffee store on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda went unanswered at 12 p.m. Monday.

Your best option is to go with the advice of safety officials everywhere, including Governor Martin O'Malley: Stay off the roads.
