With Christmas quickly approaching, many Potomac residents may be looking for a tree that will best suit them.

To help ease the stress of tree shopping, Potomac Patch spoke with Orion Taylor, the manager of the outdoor plants department at Behnke Nurseries about what customers need to know when choosing a tree.

Behnke Nurseries, 9545 River Rd., offers two kinds of Christmas trees: Fraser Firs and Noble Firs.

The Fraser Firs – which are grown in North Carolina – have a typical cone shape, a sturdy trunk and a strong fragrance, Taylor said. The trees last from five to six weeks, he added.

"If you put it into your house after Thanksgiving, it will last up until New Years," Taylor said about the Fraser Fir trees.

Fraser Firs from five to six feet tall cost $54.99 at the nursery.

Noble Fir trees are the "cadillac of the Christmas tree family," Taylor said. The clean and fresh tree, which is from the west coast, has great texture and density, he added.

The Noble Firs from five to six feet tall cost $69.99 at the nursery.
