This Weekend: Potomac Day, Community Service and the World's Largest Indoor Picnic

A look at the editor's picks for this weekend.

This weekend Potomac will celebrate tradition, lend a helping hand and reach out to those in need.

The Churchill Bulldogs are gearing up to play the Sherwood Warriors at Friday night's football game. The game will be held at Churchill at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the heart of Potomac will be crowded with more than 5,000 people for the 29th annual Potomac Day. Each year Potomac Day brings thousands of people from around the area to Potomac to enjoy a parade, music, games and a car show and this year's event -- which will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. -- is no exception. The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., a business fair will start at 10 a.m. and the classic car show will begin at 10 a.m.

Falls Road and River Road will be closed starting around 10 a.m. because of the parade, so anticipate back ups Saturday morning.

Saturday is also Montgomery County's community service day -- an opportunity for residents to lend a helping hand and give back to their community. Community service day, now in its 24th year, will give county residents a chance to volunteer in their community. If you're volunteering locally, let us know what you're doing and send in pictures!

A Wider Circle -- a Silver Spring nonprofit organization that helps people in need to furnish their homes -- will host its annual fall fundraiser in Potomac this Sunday at the Julia Bindeman Center from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The "world's largest indoor picnic" will to support the region's most vulnerable children and adults and will include games for children, arts and crats and more. Music, a silent auction and food will also be available at the fundraiser.

Whatever your plans this weekend, send us your pictures and update us on your adventures.

Have a great weekend!
