Verizon Wireless Retailer Opens in Potomac

Churchill grad and businessman Matt Harris opened his new store in Potomac Village.

Waiting an hour for a customer service appointment at the new locally owned Verizon retailer is now a problem of the past.

Potomac Village’s newest store—The Wireless Warehouse—opened its doors Aug. 8 in the Potomac Village Shopping Center. Residents will be able to upgrade their phone to the newest, hottest models, purchase accessories and service their current phones without waiting in a long line for hours. New models of phones are $25 off, and cell phone accessories are 50 percent off.

The new store, in the former Plants, Etc., location, adds diversity to the stores that surround the River and Falls roads intersection. The store is the fourth Verizon retailer opened by local businessman Mark Harris.

“I am excited to be in Potomac Village,” Harris said. “I grew up here and have never left. I graduated from Churchill in 1988.”

Harris’ other store locations are in Glen Echo, DuPont Circle in Washington, D.C., and McLean, VA.

Adam Kirshon, Manager of the Potomac Village site said that business has been going well, and they expect it to increase as residents become aware of the store’s proximity. Residents will no longer have to drive through Potomac Village to Montgomery Mall, Rockville, Tysons, or Glen Echo.

“The customers who are coming in are pleased with the immediate customer service and with a wide variety of products available to them," Kirshon said. "Our stores are different from the corporate stores like the one in Rockville. We have fewer customers and usually little or no wait time. Parking is easy and free, and they love the convenient location.”

The shopping center is managed by Donahoe Real Estate Services. Dean Drewyer, Associate Vice President of Donahoe, is pleased that the Verizon Wireless store has moved into the space.

“We think this store will attract many customers  who will also visit the other retail establishments located in this shopping center and in Potomac," Drewyer said. "Once folks realize this store is here, they will combine their trip to the Verizon store with dining in local restaurants and shopping in Potomac stores.”

The store's hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Stop by and check out the latest cell phone technology, new applications and accessories.
