2. On Saturday, Aug. 20, more than 50 members of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, including Fire Chief Richie Bowers, will climb 110 stories at the North Bethesda Market East Tower in honor of their colleagues (343) who died in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. Organized by firefighter TJ Monahan of Station 33 in Potomac, the event commemorates the 10th anniversary of 9/11. The event begins at 9 a.m. Come on out to support your local firefighters.

5. On this day in 1964, the Beatles kicked off their first U.S. tour at San Francisco's Cow Palace. More than 17,000 screaming fans (I'm thinking mostly adolescent girls) let loose when the boys launched into "Twist And Shout." If I had been there, I would have been hysterical. What's your favorite Beatles tune?

Have a wonderful weekend!
