5 Things to Know Today: Sept. 1

Wake up and smell the chai, Italian roast or herbal tea on this Thursday morning. Start the day off right with these five things to know today in Potomac.

1. Today will be a repeat of Wednesday's spectacular weather. It will be mostly sunny with highs in the 80s. Thursday evening will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temps will dip into the low 60s.

2. It's Back-to-School Night at . The program starts at 7 p.m. A Performing Arts Department reception will be held from 6:15-6:45 p.m. in Room 126. Teachers and staff from the instrumental music, choral and theatre programs will be available to answer questions and discuss highlights. Light refreshments will be served.

3. If it's Thursday, it's day! Pick up fresh fruits, veggies and more for a late summer feast. Local vendors including McCleafs Orchard, Rocklands Farm, Alliaabad Farm, and Garden Path Farms will sell a variety of farm fresh produce. The market is open form 2-6:30 p.m. each Thursday in the parking lot of .

5. My, how the summer flew by, and here it is Sept. 1. Let's take a look at some numbers that might make your head spin. There are only four days until Labor Day. The fall equinox takes place in 22 days, which means the end of summer draws near. You better start thinking of a cool costume because Halloween is just 60 days away. There are 84 days until you stuff yourself full of turkey or tofurky. And believe it or not, there are 115 days until Christmas. So do I still have time to go to the beach?
