Rise and shine, Potomac — it’s time to get ahead by reading the five things you need to know today.

1. It’s going to be another warm day with a chance of showers. Expect highs in the 80s with a 20 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. This evening, rain and thunderstorms could hit the area after 2 a.m. The day's low will be around 67 degrees.

2. This morning the will transform into an elegant boutique as the takes over. The event, which goes from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., will feature jewelry, gifts for the home, kid-friendly selections and more with a portion of all proceeds going to the Lisa Spaeth Memorial fund at John Hopkins. Don’t miss this opportunity to get some new items and help a good cause in the community.

3. Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett is proposing an increase of the Ride-On monthly pass fare from $30 to $45 beginning July 2011, and you can share your opinions about the changes this evening. At 7:30 p.m., a will take place at the Montgomery County Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.

4. Stop by Potomac Pizza today for their Tuesday special where you can buy any large pizza and get a second large pizza for 99 cents! This deal is only good for dine-in and carry out orders, but goes all day at all locations including the Potomac store.
