5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 8

Your daily digest of need-to-know information about Potomac.

It’s almost the weekend, so use these five things to help you get through the day so you can enjoy some relaxing time off.

1. Grab that umbrella because it looks like rain will be here most of the weekend. Today there will be a high near 52 degrees with an 80 percent chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service. The low will be around 44 degrees with a 60 percent chance of rain.

3. The end of the school year is quickly approaching and seniors at are celebrating together at the senior breakfast. The seniors will also be looking their best today for the senior group picture.

5. As Earth Day quickly approaches, many Potomac residents may be looking for ways to help the environment. One great opportunity is the at the River Center at Lock 8 on Saturday. This cleanup is open to all ages, and includes stewardship activities such as trash removal and trail maintenance surrounding the River Center at Lock 8, which is located at 7906 Riverside Dr. in Cabin John. Potomac Conservancy, which is sponsoring the event with the Alice Ferguson Foundation, will provide tools for volunteers. To volunteer, please contact Deanna Tricarico at tricarico@potomac.org.
