Wake up and smell the chai, French roast or tea on this Thursday morning. Start the day off right with these five things to know today in Potomac.

1. Today will be a gorgeous day—sunny with highs in the mid 80s and low humidity. Temperatures will be mostly clear in the evening with lows in the upper 50s. Enjoy!

2. It's day! Pick up fresh fruits, veggies and more for a summer feast. Local vendors including McCleafs Orchard, Rocklands Farm, Alliaabad Farm, and Garden Path Farms will peddle a variety of farm fresh produce. The market is open 2-6:30 p.m. each Thursday in the parking lot of .

3. Consider packing a picnic dinner (the weather will be supreme), a blanket and friends or family and enjoy a free performance by the U.S. Navy Band Cruisers in the Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park. The Summer Concert Series The carousel is also open during the evening for these concert nights. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

4. Hundreds of butterflies from North America, Asia and Costa Rica are on display and flitting about at the . The "Wings of Fancy" butterfly exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Sept. 18. 1500 Glenallen Ave.; 301-962-1400.

5. On this day in 1973, the movie American Graffiti was released in theatres across the country. Directed by George Lucas, of Star Wars fame, the film was a nostalgic look at adolescence and the car-centric culture in California of the early '60s.
