Good morning, Potomac. It’s almost the weekend so, ready or not, here are the five things you need to know today.

1. What may start as a warmer day, will likely end in freezing rain. Cue the depressing sound effects. According to the National Weather Service, it’s going to be a high at 42 degrees this afternoon, but freezing rain will make its way to Potomac this evening.

2. Get out your red garb because today is National Wear Red Day — a day when people wear red to show their support for Go Red For Women and to help raise awareness of heart disease. Donations to Go Red For Women support efforts to fund breakthrough research and education by the American Heart Association on women and heart disease, according to its website.

3. For those who want chili during the Super Bowl but don’t want to cook it themselves, the presents this Saturday from 5-7 p.m. The church will sell chili at the event and you can even purchase take home containers. 5. Did you know that on this day more than 220 years ago, the first United States President was elected? On Feb. 4, 1789, George Washington, the commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, was unanimously elected the first president of the United States by all 69 presidential electors who cast their votes.
