5 Things You Need to Know Today: Feb. 7

Be in-the-know when it comes to all things Potomac today.

Rise and shine, Potomac! It’s time to start a new week with five new things you need to know today.

1. Good morning, sports fans! Or not so much… whether you cheered for the winning Packers or you are a little down in the dumps after the Steelers’ loss, you couldn’t miss the ads. In fact, it is the reason many people (cough, cough, me) ever turn on the game. Which ones were your favorites and which ones bombed? USA Today ran an “Ad Meter” that listed all of the ads and which ones were most liked by its readers. Weigh in and share your favorites, too.

2. Although rain may be in the forecast, it’s starting to warm up in Potomac. According to the National Weather Service, it is going to be a high of 48 degrees today! Too soon for the flip flops?

3. Potomac Pizza is making an appearance on Groupon today offering $20 for two pizzas of your choice. That’s a $46 value for a whole lot less. The offer on Groupon last until the end of the day. Now to the fine print: limit 1 per person and the coupon must be used in one visit with no cash back. Tax and gratuity are not included in the coupon.

4. In case you missed it over the weekend, it was another big week for the  boys' basketball team, which now stands in first place in the Montgomery County 4A West Division for the first time in 32 years. On Friday, the team won their 13th straight game when they defeated Richard Montgomery, 58-34.

5. Speaking of Churchill basketball, tonight is the rivalry game against Wootton at 7 p.m. at Churchill. It’s going to be a big game—big enough to merit this awesome video— so show up early to get a good seat and cheer on the Bulldogs.
