Update, 9:15 a.m.: Well, the five things to know has adjusted a little bit because of snow in ice in the area, so here are some updates. Because all Montgomery County Public Schools are closed today, the students are obviously not taking exams, and I'm sure they are embracing the extra day to study.

Also, the PTSA meeting at Churchill High School scheduled for tonight has been canceled.

1. Grab your shovels and ice scrapers because it’s another snowy morning in Potomac. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Montgomery County last night and it lasts until noon today. As if traffic in the area isn’t already bad enough, be sure to get a head start on your commute, if you haven’t already.

Okay, I’m sure local students are not nearly as excited about another day of exams, but at least it means the promise that comes with a new semester. Students at Churchill High School and Wootton High School are embarking on their second day of exams after beginning them on Jan. 14. Exams will go until Jan. 20 at both schools with make-up exams on Jan. 21.

4. Speaking of Churchill … the PTSA is holding their meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in room 126. On the agenda is an update on information about the as well as a presentation from the school’s College/Career Information Coordinator Luana Zimmermann.
