5 Things You Need to Know Today: July 14

Your daily digest of need-to-know information about Potomac.

Rise and shine, Potomac! It’s another day with another five things you need to know to stay on top of what’s going on in the community.

1. After the last few days of stifling heat, a glorious day is on tap weather-wise... It will be sunny and pleasant all day, with highs reaching the mid-80s and a refreshing northeast breeze of 5-10 mph.  Tonight skies will remain mostly clear, with lows falling into the 60s.

2. The beautiful weather is right on time for Bastille Day! In honor of today's French national holiday (commemorating the storming of the Bastille by revolutionaries), Bezu Restaurant in Potomac Village is holding its first Bastille day celebration by offering a three-course prix fixe menu for $35.00, by Chef Francis Layrle. Setting the mood will be French music and $5.00 specialty cocktails by Pauly Be (with names like "The Marseillaise" and "Marie Antoinette"). While there, you can also have a complimentary caricature portrait done. Reservations are recommended.

The market is open 2:00 - 6:30 p.m. each Thursday, in the parking lot of .

4. Harry Potter opening mania is almost underway--the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 opens tonight, with midnight showings at some (but not all) area theatres. Check back with Patch later today for a rundown of local showtimes. (Attention: if you plan to attend the midnight showings or have special plans, parties, or are dressing up to go, let us know.
