Good morning, Potomac! It’s another day with another five things you need to know to stay informed in the community.

1. It’s officially summer! Today is the first day of summer — also known as the summer solstice. It’s the longest day of the year and the Sun reaches its most northern point in the sky at local noon. After this date, the days start getting shorter.

2. And with the first day of summer comes the characteristic weather with highs reaching 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There will be a slight chance of showers before 10 a.m., again after 2 p.m. and then before 2 a.m. The day’s low will be around 69 degrees.

3. If you’re in the mood for pizza tonight, stop by Potomac Pizza for Tuesday night’s special. All day long, customers can buy any large pizza and get a second large pizza for just 99 cents. The offer applies to dine-in and carry-out orders only.
