The things you need to know to get you through the day and into the weekend.

Happy Friday, Potomac! To get ramped up for the weekend, it’s time to get caught up on the five things you need to know today.

1. Rain could hit Potomac today, so grab your umbrella just in case. There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. and again before 2 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The day’s high is 89 degrees and the low is around 63 degrees.

2. Today, your four-legged friend could be your office mate! It’s “,” which was created by Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1999 to promote animal adoption from rescues and shelters by educating the working public on the benefits of adopting a homeless dog and encouraging responsible pet ownership.
