5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 8

It’s time to get up and get informed about what’s going on today in Potomac. We hope these five things help you stay on top of what’s happening around town and some of the great things you can do to get involved in the community.

1. Crank up that air conditioning because it’s going to be another hot day. It will be sunny with a high near 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. This evening, there will be clear skies and a low near 71 degrees.

2. This evening, Potomac residents are invited to say their final goodbyes to . From 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the community can take a final stroll through the “old” Hoover before it undergoes modernization, which will put students and staff in the Tilden Holding Center during the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years.

3. Dining at this evening will help support Life Connections Mission in Haiti. From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. eat at the restaurant’s beer garden and enjoy an evening full of fun with guest bartenders including Monsignor Kevin Hart from . It costs $35 per person to participate in the fundraiser and interested diners should RSVP to Patty Daniels at prd921@aol.com.

4. The Rotary Club of Potomac is having its at noon at . This week, Bob Grill of Disaster Aid USA will speak. Rotary club gives men and women an enjoyable and organized way to make a contribution to their community. Rotary members meet weekly to plan club, community and international service activities.
