1. Today it looks like it will be a nice little combo of sun, then rain. According to the National Weather Service, there will be a chance of rain after 3 p.m., increasing clouds throughout the day and, ultimately, a high near 50 degrees. Rain is expected in the evening and there will be a low around 41 degrees.

2. The dangers of substance abuse for children are real and Churchill’s PTSA is doing its part to help educate parents about them. The meeting, which will take place this evening at 7:30 p.m. in room 126 will address alcohol and drug use and how parents can become more involved with issues children may have to face. The Program Director of the Addiction Treatment Center at Suburban Hospital, Beth Kane Davidson will be presenting along with Mimi Fleury from Community of Concern

3. Get ready for the coming of lacrosse season! teams are playing today with the boys varsity team — ranked number 11 in the area by DCSportsFan.com — will play Flint Hill today at 4:30 p.m. at home. The girls varsity lacrosse team will play at St. Andrew’s today at 5:30 p.m.

4. Check Potomac Patch later today for parenting advice, discussions and fun! This afternoon we will run a column about school lunches and how they compare to having parents pack lunches. 5. If you’re child is going to start kindergarten at in the fall, don’t miss the , which is taking place today at 9 a.m. Students entering kindergarten in the Fall of 2011 are invited to attend this orientation. Please contact the attendance secretary, Mrs. Guevara, to make an appointment.
