Good morning, Potomac. Don’t get left behind when it comes to local news — read up on the five things you need to know to keep you in the loop in the community. 

1. It seems to be getting a little bit warmer today with a high near 53 degrees, but snow could be on the way, according to the National Weather Service. Expect winds around 10 miles per hour and a 30 percent chance of snow after 4 a.m. The low will be around 32 degrees. 

2. Stop by for a delicious meal that will go to . Normandie Farm will donate 15 percent of the day’s lunch and dinner sales to the American Red Cross’ fund to benefit Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims. So don’t miss this opportunity to support a local business and give to those in need in Japan.

3. With abundant dining options and causes, here is another one in the area. Eat at Baronessa Italian Restaurant in Rockville between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. and where 20% of the day's profits will go to help spay/neuter cats.

4. Comptroller Peter Franchot is coming to Potomac today to tour ’s new facility and assess the school’s construction funding needs. The school system is asking the state for more than $18 million to complete the school replacement and Franchot, Montgomery County Public School administrators and state and local officials will be meeting to tour the partially constructed school and talk about funding options. Come back to Potomac Patch later today for details about the meeting, which will take place at 9:30 a.m.
