5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 31

The information you need to know today in Potomac.

If you want to know what’s happening in your own backyard, look no further. These five things will keep you in-the-know when it comes to what’s up in Potomac.

1. Don’t leave your house without the umbrella. Potomac will likely get some rain after 1 p.m. following some drizzle throughout the morning, according to that National Weather Service. Rain will come again before 3 a.m., too. The high will be 46 degrees and the low will be around 34 degrees.

2. Students at Montgomery County Public Schools can get a few extra hours of sleep today as school is not in session. Today is a professional day for teachers, so students get to take the day off and take a breather.

3. If students are looking for something to do on that day off, why not try the Montgomery County Student Film Fest? Local students, including several from , and Wootton High School, will showcase their hard work through their own films. There will be more than 30 short films made by county students, which will show at the Westfield Montgomery Mall movie theater from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The proceeds from this film festival will go to the non-profit group, Free the Children, which builds schools in third-world countries.

4. Take your little one to the today for, an event filled with stories and songs for babies — infants to 11 months — and their caregivers. Registration is not required for the story time, so stop on by at 10:30 a.m.
